I Miss the Early, Funny Garofalo

I like to think I'm hard to shock but the world is a big, fast moving place. Here is something that leaves me, well, frankly stunned.

Janeane Garofalo was once a funny stand-up comic who appeared in a few amusing movies. Then she became a leftist political activist and radio host. Now she has basically lost her mind. LGF links to this story, which is just hard to believe but the picture tells the story.

Garofalo: "The inked fingers and the position of them, which is gonna be a Daily Show photo already, of them signaling in this manner [does the Nazi salute], as if they have solidarity with the Iraqis who braved physical threats against their lives to vote as if somehow these inked-fingered Republicans have something to do with that."
And yes, just to make sure she got her point across, she makes the Nazi salute. That is beneath a response even from me so I'll move on. Those people were in fact in solidarity with the Iraqi voters. Those ink-fingered Republicans did in fact have a lot to do with that, if by that she means "the Iraqis who braved physical threats against their lives to vote." Who does she think helped plan, organize and secure the elections? Guys from The Laugh Factory? Democrats? France?

The far left needs to get a new comparison. They've worn out the Republicans-as-Nazis thing. It makes them look stupid or in Garofalo's case deranged. Maybe stupid and deranged. Up your meds, Janeane. Maybe take a few weeks off. Read a book on Nazi Germany. Tour Auschwitz.

It's sad to see how far she's fallen.

Update: Here's the new Garofalo. In uniform. With a more appropriate background.
